ARTS IN EDUCATION
In conjunction with the Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival, the Lawrence County Arts Council conducts a series of in-school programs utilizing various forms of the performing arts to further the horizon for students of all ages. This program is conducted in a number of elementary and high schools throughout Lawrence County at no cost to students or educators.

A portion of this program is funded in part by a grant from the Southern Arts Federation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

2009 ARTS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM
As part of the 2009 Arts in Education Program, the Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival financed the appearance of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, an African American Sting Band, to perform in the Lawrence County Schools.
Along with performing at the Festival, the Carolina Chocolate Drops provided music education assemblies at a number of schools throughout Lawrence County during the week leading up to the festival.
2010 ARTS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM
"Mrs. Kate" Carpenter.
Folksinger, Songwriter and Storyteller. Mrs. Kate will be doing school performances, a performance for Senior Citizens, and a performance at the Bill Stewart Activity Center (for the developmental challenge youth and adults). Mrs. Kate will also appear on the Children's Stage during the 2010 ACEF.

Kenny Brown
Blues singer and songwriter.
Kenny Brown, of Holly Springs, MS, will be providing master classes in schools throughout Lawrence County. Most recently Brown’s unique musical talent is highlighted in his appearance in the Paramount Vantage film Black Snake Moan based on the life of R.L. Burnside, starring Hollywood famed Samuel L. Jackson. Brown’s newest CD, "Meet Ya In The Bottom", released fall 2008 has enjoyed remarkable sales.
