COMMUNITY BENEFITS
Community pride
The event is coordinated under the direction of 50 committee volunteers with over 400 volunteers during the festival week. The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival reaches across social, economic and age demographics to touch volunteers from all walks of life. We pride ourselves in recognizing the talents of individuals and utilizing their transferable skills to meet the needs of our community festival while meeting the needs of the individual.
Promotion of the Poultry Industry and Agriculture
According to Alabama Department of Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, agriculture is the number one industry in Alabama. It employs over 476,000 people, which is roughly 21% of the states work force. Furthermore, producing over 1 billion birds a year, Alabama is the #3 producer in the nation.
Contribution to Arts in Education
In conjunction with the Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival, the Lawrence County Arts Council conducts a series of in-school programs utilizing various forms of the performing arts to further the horizon on students of all ages. This program is conducted in a number of elementary and high schools throughout Lawrence County at no cost to students or educators.
Community Donations
The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival in conjunction with the Lawrence County Arts Council contributes to over 10 charitable organizations including The American Cancer Society, The American Red Cross, The Lawrence County United Way, The Moulton Civitan Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lawrence & Morgan County, The Selma Children’s Museum, The Burritt on the Mountain Museum & Park, The Lawrence County Library, & The Lawrence County Schools System.
Economic Benefits
The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival drives visitors to local restaurants, gas stations and retail businesses, which increase sales tax for Alabama, Lawrence County and the City of Moulton. Creates jobs within the hospitality industry.

The mission of the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival is to celebrate agriculture, tourism, the arts and community involvement.
Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival Goals
The goals of the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival remain the same as its inception:
• Attract tourist from Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee generating hotel room nights for Lawrence, Morgan, Cullman, Lauderdale and Colbert Counties & to increase sales tax collection for the counties.
• Promote the positives of visiting Lawrence County.
• Promote and educate the patrons on the economic impact and health values of poultry & eggs and the importance of agriculture to Alabama.
• Provide a long-term revenue-producing event dedicated to encouraging a vital, creative community by providing everyone with exposure to, education in and enjoyment of a wide variety of art.
